PERC Launches “Your Power Play” Campaign to Promote Propane Reliability

The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) officially launched its new “Your Power Play” campaign on May 20, positioning propane as a dependable backup energy source as concerns about grid reliability continue to grow across the U.S. The campaign arrives amid increasing strain on electric infrastructure driven by extreme weather, rising power demand, wildfire-related shutoffs, and cybersecurity threats targeting utility systems. PERC’s messaging focuses on propane’s ability to provide reliable, on-demand energy for homes, farms, commercial operations, and critical facilities when electric service is interrupted.

“Our campaign is built around real-world stories,” said Gary Busey, senior director of market research at PERC, referencing examples such as farmers protecting livestock, hospitals maintaining emergency operations, and families relying on propane-powered energy during severe storms. The initiative combines digital advertising, community outreach events, and educational resources for propane retailers and distributors aimed at reinforcing propane’s role in energy resilience.

For propane marketers, the campaign provides an important branding and customer-retention opportunity. As more consumers become concerned about grid outages and energy reliability, propane companies have a stronger platform to position propane not simply as a heating fuel, but as part of a broader energy-security strategy. Backup generators, standby power systems, propane-powered appliances, and agricultural applications all stand to benefit from increased public awareness.

The campaign also reinforces a broader industry message: propane’s established infrastructure and portability give it a practical advantage during emergencies and severe weather events. Unlike fully grid-dependent energy systems, propane can continue powering essential equipment even during prolonged outages, making it increasingly attractive for resilience planning in both residential and commercial markets.

If PERC’s innovative “Your Power Play” campaign gains traction nationally, it could strengthen propane demand across multiple sectors while helping reinforce the industry’s image as a reliable and resilient energy partner.
