Bergquist Delves Into Portable Propane Power with Evergreen Partnership

Midwest propane distributor Bergquist is expanding beyond fuel delivery and into mobile energy solutions through a new partnership with Evergreen Mobile Power. The company announced that it is now an authorized distributor for Evergreen’s line of propane-powered portable generators and mobile power systems, a move that reflects growing demand for cleaner and more flexible backup power options across multiple industries.

The agreement adds a range of propane-fueled generators to Bergquist’s current offerings, including smaller 5-kW units designed for job sites and larger 30-kW systems intended for emergency response, agricultural operations, and outdoor events.

Demand for Portable Power Continues to Grow
The timing of the partnership comes as businesses and property owners place greater emphasis on backup power reliability. Extreme weather events, grid instability, and rising summer electricity demand are pushing more customers to look for dependable off-grid energy solutions.

Portable propane generators are increasingly appealing because they offer cleaner emissions and quieter operations compared to traditional diesel-powered systems. For many customers, propane also provides a practical fuel source that is already readily available through existing storage tanks or delivery relationships. That gives propane marketers a unique advantage when introducing generator solutions to residential, agricultural, and commercial customers who are already familiar with propane service.

Propane’s Advantages Extend Beyond Heating
The partnership highlights how propane companies are broadening their role in the energy market. Instead of serving only as fuel providers, many distributors are positioning themselves as full-service energy partners capable of supporting backup power, mobile operations, and emergency preparedness.

Portable propane generators are particularly attractive for sectors that need reliable temporary power without the noise, fuel storage issues, or emissions concerns commonly associated with diesel equipment. Construction sites, outdoor venues, farms, and disaster-response operations are among the markets seeing increased interest. As severe weather and power outages continue affecting communities nationwide, demand for mobile power solutions is expected to remain strong.

Training and Support Become Part of the Strategy
Bergquist says the rollout will include technical support, installer training, and streamlined ordering systems for dealers and contractors. Their focus on education reflects the industry’s growing emphasis on safety, compliance, and proper generator installation practices. That kind of operational assistance is becoming more valuable as propane companies expand into equipment sales and service support alongside fuel delivery.

A New Revenue Opportunity for Propane Marketers
For many propane businesses, portable power systems represent more than just an equipment add-on; they create an opportunity to diversify revenue and strengthen customer relationships. Selling or servicing propane-powered generators allows distributors to increase propane gallon demand while providing customers with a practical solution for energy resilience.

These measures also help propane companies compete more directly in conversations around backup power and energy independence, areas traditionally dominated by diesel and gasoline equipment suppliers. Companies already operating strong propane delivery networks may find portable power products to be a natural extension of their existing customer base and infrastructure and a practical plan for future growth.
